Sumilon Island, Cebu

As the saying goes, the best things happen unexpectedly---which is exactly what panned out from our out of the blue visit to Sumilon Island in 2012. It wasn't originally included in our 4-day-itinerary in Cebu. But after seeing the island from afar (Gemmie Choa, Ling and I were looking out from Oslob then), our curiosity got the better of us.

When our encounter with the whale sharks concluded, we contracted a local boatman to accompany us to the island. It was only 10-15 minutes away. For the amount of P750 for the three of us, the boatman agreed.

Sumilon is a 24-hectare island known for its uber white sandbar. The view of the island up close was even more splendid. If only we had the time to stay longer. We spent almost an hour enjoying the sandbar and swimming our time away. Not to mention taking as much pictures as we can!
