Though I've been to Cebu a dozen times, my trip there in 2009 was still a combination of firsts.

First time to go there with my Sumasabog na Kalan or SNK friends. Part of our Cebu itinerary was to go to Bantayan Island---another first! The biggest surprise of the trip, however, was the fact that our friend, RC, wasn't able to join us. The reason why? She overslept despite more than a hundred calls and texts from us! Talk about bad timing. Hehe

From Cebu North Terminal to Hagnaya Port, we travelled for 3 hours via bus. We then boarded a public ferry going to Sta. Fe Port. Travel time was approximately one hour. We checked into Tristan's Beach Resort. Reserved a family room for an overnight rate of P2,500. Had lunch at Tristan's Restaurant which serves really good pizzas! We even met their Filipino chef, Dante. Sea urchins are another must-try in the island. We bought some from a local who happened to pass by the restaurant while we were having lunch. First time to try one and it sure tasted quite salty.

After lunch, we went directly to Virgin Island. Boat rental cost is around P1,200 for 4-5 pax. Island entrance fee is P500 for 5 pax. Spent a laid-back afternoon on its glorious white sand beach. Did some snorkeling too. We then feasted on a buffet dinner at D' Jungle Mongolian BBQ Grill and Resto.

My series of firsts didn't end there. The following day, I tried skim boarding. Just borrowed a board from a local teen practicing in front of the resort. After several missed attempts, I was successful in boarding the board and sliding with it...not just once, but twice! Woohoo! Back in Cebu City, we also tried the Sky Walk and the Edge Coaster in Crown Regency Hotel and Tower. I'm not afraid of heights but trying those two sure made me cringe in (partial) fear.
