Corregidor
My visit to Corregidor in 2012 was made more memorable because I wasn't only seeing it for myself for the first time as I was also bringing Japanese and Filipino friends along. The known rocky island, strategically situated at the entrance of Manila Bay and south of Bataan, is a national historical shrine commemorating the battle fought there by U.S. and Filipino forces against the Japanese during World War II. My Japanese friends, Misa and Maiko, interestingly shared that they know some Japanese who regularly come to Corregidor to visit the graves of their relatives who died there during the said war. No wonder there are lots of Japanese tourists in most Corregidor trips just like what happened in ours.
Tours in the island are monopolized by Sun Cruises. We took the day-tour package at P2,350/pax inclusive of round trip ferry transfers, shrine and entrance fees, guided island tour and buffet lunch. I commend Sun Cruises for maintaining an organized system. It's very convenient for both local and foreign guests.
The ferry promptly departs Manila at 8 am daily for the day trip. It takes 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to the North Dock of the island. From there, we rode the tramvia or mini bus for our guided tour around the area: Battery Way-Battery Hearn-Mile-long Barracks-Pacific War Memorial-Battery Crocket-MacArthur Statue-Japanese Garden of Peace-Filipino Heroes Memorial-Malinta Tunnel-Corregidor Hotel.
Though quite eerie, the picturesque view made our historical adventure all the more entertaining.

Certified as a PADI rescue diver. Got my first compact camera in 2011. I was simply content then to just capture a glimpse of what I see during my dives. It was only last February 2014 that I fully maximized the use of manual macro settings.
