No place could have been more scenic and laid back with its stretch of agoho trees, bountiful hills and white to greyish sand beach than Anawangin Cove way back 2009. And who would have thought that the 1991 Mt. Pinatubo eruption breathed new life to its beauty? It has been a memorable adventure spent with my Sumasabog na Kalan or SNK friends. Anyone who loves nature and enjoys the Baguio chill vibe would definitely take the time to explore this paradise. And we took our chance when we organized a trip to tour a Korean interning at my friend's workplace then. He brought along three other Korean friends and we were eleven in the group. We booked our trip with Anawayne Outdoors. The tour costs P1,040/pax inclusive of roundtrip van transpo from Makati to Zambales and island hopping boat ride to Anawangin.
We were off to our much-awaited weekender destination by midnight and land travel going to San Antonio, Zambales took 4 to 5 hours. Jump-off of our island hopping adventure is at Barangay Pundaquit. Aside from Anawangin Cove, there are other picturesque destinations that are easily accessible by boat from the said barangay: Nagsasa Cove, Silanguin Cove, Talisayen Cove, Camara Island and Capones Island. A 5-hour trek through Mt. Pundaquit is also an option to reach Anawangin. Our iti included a visit to Capones Island. Its pristine white sand beach simply felt heavenly after an overnight land trip. We even hiked our way going to the lighthouse. Though quite tiring, the majestic view definitely made up for it. We reached Anawangin Cove by lunchtime. Just in time for our friend, Dee-aye, to prepare our sumptuous meal.=)
The weather has been fairly sunny during our trip so we were quite surprised to experience rainfall in the late evening. Some of our friends had to transfer to other tents because water unfortunately leaked inside. I can still remember how we were awoken by "Emergency!" cries by distressed friends. Nonetheless, we still had an awesome time swimmin', chillin' and bonding our asses off.

Certified as a PADI rescue diver. Got my first compact camera in 2011. I was simply content then to just capture a glimpse of what I see during my dives. It was only last February 2014 that I fully maximized the use of manual macro settings.
My camera skills and knowledge are still a work in progress. Enjoy browsin’!
