Our trip to Moalboal in August 2015 was a celebration of sorts. Aside from checking it off my dive bucket list, also marked my 200th dive there.
Booked a late afternoon flight to Cebu with my forever dive buddy, Ling. We arrived past 6pm and directly rode a taxi headed to the South Bus Terminal. Reached the terminal around 7:30 pm, just in time before the last aircon bus bound for Moalboal leaves. Talk about luck! hehe
The bus trip costs only P116/person compared to an airport pickup cost of P3,000. It took us 2 ½ hours to get to Moalboal. Upon arrival in Moalboal, we took a tricycle going to Eve’s Kiosk in Panagsama area. The rate of the tric doubles at nighttime so we paid P200.
We chose to stay in Eve’s Kiosk as it is just beside the dive shop, Ocean Safari Philippines also known as Nelson’s Scuba Diving School. Eve’s and Ocean Safari Philippines are the oldest, pioneer resort accommodation and dive center in Panagsama Beach. Aside from the fact that Ocean Safari is the only Filipino-owned dive shop in the area. As a Filipino diver myself, I would like to take pride in that. =)
Loved the vibe in Eve’s Kiosk. Nice dining and pool area. The aircon room rate at P1,500 for 2 pax is also not bad at all.
The two diving days we spent with Ocean Safari Philippines were just as I expected. We easily felt at home. Though it was almost always packed with divers, Nelson Abenido, the owner and operator, made it a point to send enough dive masters to guide all the divers.
After diving, we maximized our stay by going to Kawasan Falls and Bas Dako or White Beach. We contracted a tricycle driver to bring us to Kawasan. From the jump-off in Badian, we trekked all the way to the falls which just took us around 5-10 minutes. The fresh spring water from the falls was amazingly cold and clear. We totally enjoyed our quick dip.
From Badian, the tric brought us to Bas Dako or White Beach, which is on the opposite side of Panagsama. Local and foreign tourists abound. It was surely worth visiting.

Certified as a PADI rescue diver. Got my first compact camera in 2011. I was simply content then to just capture a glimpse of what I see during my dives. It was only last February 2014 that I fully maximized the use of manual macro settings.
My camera skills and knowledge are still a work in progress. Enjoy browsin’!
