Anilao, Batangas: 2024 Mid-year Dive

It was a stroke of luck when finally, on the first week of May 2024, I get to dive for work. Minus my underwater camera, I was in charge of documenting our segment host whilst doing discover scuba diving. And yes, diving at PamAnilao and Padoy’s Dive Camp gave me a glimpse of the sought-after Miamira Alleni nudibranch right at their house reef.

Fast forward a month later, Ling and I were back for a revenge dive. We scheduled a fun dive for the rate of P1,000 per pax, inclusive of tank and dive master fee. We were warned, however, that the Alleni we saw on our previous dive has somehow relocated in a farther area probably because of the typhoon and other factors. Ling and I were hopeful...still.

We were welcomed by common nudis on our shore entry. And tons of pink-eyed gobies! The red frogfish I saw last May was still there. The season also presented two Halgerda Batangas nudis that surely caught my fancy. I was glad to finally take a snap of an anemone pipefish. Our dive time reached an hour and a half but still no Alleni...yet our dive sure gave much more than we expected. Enjoy viewing!
