Sabang, Puerto Galera: A Sweet Underwater Escape

After a month-long diving drought, Ling and I decided to return to Sabang, Puerto Galera on February 2016. I have long wanted Ling to see Sabang's diving haven since our last trip there 3 years ago.

We did a total of 4 dives in our 3-day stay in Blue Ribbon Dive Resort. Though the water temperature in February can get as cold as 24-degree celsius, it didn't stop us in exploring Sabang Point, Canyons, Dungun Wall and Sabang Wreck. Underwater visibility, however, wasn't good enough.

Nonetheless, I was still so excited to finally use my Canon S120 camera in Sabang for the first time. Diving in the Canyons dive site was the highlight of our trip. Drift diving while ducking into the 3 canyons one after the other while photographing a lively reef was incomparably exhilirating. It was a deep dive with a maximum depth of 30 meters or 100 feet. We were also lucky to see the giant green sea turtle or pawikan in the Sabang Wreck area. The dive guide said it has been a while since it was last spotted there.
