Anilao, Batangas: 2021 Post-Birthday Critter Finds

I had yet another birthday celebrated amid the pandemic and there really was no better gift to give myself other than six memorable dives in Anilao, Batangas’ macro haven. We booked our 4-day stay during the last weekend of October 2021 with none other than Anilao Boarding House. It’s always great to see the Filipino and English owners, MJ and Stuey Whiteside, who have both been very accommodating. The homey ambience of their resort and the amazing beachfront view always make our trip all the more worthwhile. Simply the perfect break from my work from home view.

We did four shore dives and scheduled two boat dives with the Tabangay brothers, Justin and Mac. It has been a while since Ling and I did boat dives and this time it was to find the Alleni nudibranch last spotted in the El Pinoy house reef. Though our search has been unfruitful, we sure found special critters like the two batwing slugs, six hairy shrimps and tons of pink-eyed gobies! The clownfish and damsel fish eggs were just icing on my post-birthday dives. Enjoy viewing!
