Baguio may have been branded as the 'Summer capital of the Philippines', but as for me and my family, we especially prefer to go there in December, when the weather is cooler and it isn't as crowded compared to the summer season.
One of my memorable trips to Baguio was in December 2013 when I visited with my family and Japanese friend, Misa. We stayed in one of the newest hotels in the area, Azalea Hotels and Residences. It is conveniently located near the city proper, just across Teacher's Camp. We showed Misa around:
1. Mines View Park overlooking a spectacular view of the city and Benguet's gold and copper mines
2. The Mansion, which is the official summer residence of the president of the Philippines
3. The century-old Burnham Park with its man-made lake and numerous flower beds
4. Philippine Military Academy where you can see cadets in training
From the hotel, we also walked going to the Laperal White House which was transformed (then) into an Ifugao Bamboo Art museum and has been open to the public since 2012. I always get intrigued looking at the haunted house from afar every time we pass by Leonard Wood road. So going inside for the first time in 2013 was indeed one for the books. Aside from the eerie feel of the place though, what caught my attention was the impressive pieces of bamboo displayed. For a change, visit this museum for a spine-tingling kind of art appreciation.
Another first we did during our 2013 trip was to try the Civet coffee in Good Shepherd Convent. It is made from Musang's poop and costs P100/cup---undoubtedly the perfect match for Baguio's cool climate.
Looking back in our Baguio escapades, our 2006 stay in The Manor Hotel in Camp John Hay will always be a standout. The pine trees surrounding the Camp John Hay compound plus the overlooking view of the Cordillera mountain range were more than breathtaking. Not to mention the striking architecture and comfy interior of the place---spell G-R-A-N-D!
Aside from visiting the usual Baguio tourist destinations, we were also able to go to Tam-Awan Village in the northwestern part of the city. It features art collections placed inside Ifugao and Kalinga huts. Seeing the various art form and paintings displayed after an uphill climb was one of our trip's highlights.

Certified as a PADI rescue diver. Got my first compact camera in 2011. I was simply content then to just capture a glimpse of what I see during my dives. It was only last February 2014 that I fully maximized the use of manual macro settings.
My camera skills and knowledge are still a work in progress. Enjoy browsin’!
