Our return to El Nido, Palawan was 5 years in the making after our rainy trip way back July 2014. Ling and I learned our lesson not to book flights during the rainy season of June-July so as to avoid cancelled diving and island hopping plans. Fast forward 5 years later to March 2019, it was all systems go for our long overdue dive trip.
Unlike our first trip to the island which usually takes 6 hours of land travel from Puerto Princesa, we took the Clark-San Vicente, Palawan route this time around. From San Vicente airport, land travel is roughly just around 2 hours. One-way van transfer is pegged at P500 per person. You can book the van transfer ahead of time thru John Vicente Sy at 09985775008 or you can simply avail of the vans parked in front of the airport.
Our arrival at Calle Hama was welcomed with surprises though. Our supposed accommodation and dive shop were both gutted by fire just a month before our scheduled reservation. Good thing we were able to find a new beachfront resort in Tandikan Beach Cottages. Duplex room rate is pegged at P2,000, inclusive of breakfast for two. The overlooking view from our second floor balcony was simply the best! The view made our morning coffees and evening beers even more memorable. Our newfound dive shop, Aquanaut Dive Center, was also a few steps away from the resort.
Our first day in the island was spent doing three dives. Three dives cost P4,400 per person inclusive of lunch and equipment rental. My macro and wide-angle curious heart were beyond satisfied after our dives. We could have spent another day diving but our budget says otherwise. ;P
Second day was spent doing island hopping tour package C, which we arranged with Tandikan Beach Cottages. The P1,400 package includes going to Helicopter Island, lunch at Talisay Beach, Hidden Beach and Secret Beach. It may be our second trip to the island but El Nido’s white sand beaches are simply breathtaking. More so, its iconic rock formations unassumingly astound the senses. Everything was literally a feast for the eyes, even for second timers like us. Just a warning though, food prices in the island are really expensive. Price for a simple meal can go above P200. So brace your wallets! Hehe

Certified as a PADI rescue diver. Got my first compact camera in 2011. I was simply content then to just capture a glimpse of what I see during my dives. It was only last February 2014 that I fully maximized the use of manual macro settings.
My camera skills and knowledge are still a work in progress. Enjoy browsin’!
