Kiangan, Ifugao

It was a work-related trip on the first week of November 2018. Traveled to Lagawe, Ifugao with my researcher, cameraman and assistant cameraman. It took our van 6 hours to reach our destination after pullout from Quezon City by 1 am. It usually takes around 7-8 hours by ordinary bus. After shooting technically 4 stories, we called it a day by past 3 in the afternoon. From Lagawe’s town proper, it took us around 20-30 minutes to go to Kiangan Viewpoint Homestay.
The view that welcomed us was just perfect after hours of travel and work. It was a breathtaking landscape of rice terraces and mountain range. Once I sat on the porch swing, I couldn’t take my eyes off the overlooking view. And then there was my second cup of coffee for the day, albeit instant, which made everything just so serene. All these for an affordable rate of P2,000 for 4 pax for the modernized Ifugao house. More rooms are also available in the compound and are pegged at P400/person with a common restroom in each floor. Overnight stay rate is inclusive of breakfast. You can also ask Ate JD to cook lunch or dinner for a rate of P200/person. We certainly enjoyed the dinner she prepared for us. =)
My researcher and I maximized our overnight stay by also going for a trek to Ambuwaya Lake. We were accompanied by Ate JD’s daughter. Hiking through rice fields and Mt. Kappugan as backdrop made the 2-hour trek so worth it. Not to mention passing by St. Joseph’s Church and the town proper along the way. Visiting Ambuwaya Lake was indeed a great pre-dinner workout. =S I will surely return for a hike up Mt. Kappugan with Ling. Guide fee is set at P500/tour.
The following day, before heading to Baguio for shoot, we dropped by the Ifugao Indigenous People Education-Community Heritage Galleries Center. Though I have no intention of buying anything, I found the perfect Ifugao-woven blouse! It was love at first sight and it was the perfect fit. Woven products had taken days to produce and buyers are assured that designs are uniquely created per piece, with no reproductions.

Certified as a PADI rescue diver. Got my first compact camera in 2011. I was simply content then to just capture a glimpse of what I see during my dives. It was only last February 2014 that I fully maximized the use of manual macro settings.
