Planning a day trip with the fam? Spend it visiting the first class municipality of Pililla in Rizal, also known for its rolling fields of green. We started the day early as it is almost two hours away from Quezon City.
Our first stop is the Lyger Animal Sanctuary. It houses some of the world’s rarest animals including ligers, strawberry tigers, white lions and indigenous birds. Entrance fee is pegged at P200 per head with discounts for senior citizens and kids 6 years old and below. It is open daily from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm and walk-ins are welcome. Our daughter enjoyed feeding the chickens, ducks, ostriches, camels, horses, donkeys, orangutans, bearcat and yes, even the tigers! Xandy’s amusement after seeing one animal after another surely made this trip such a memorable adventure. Of all the animals she interacted with, the kiddo particularly loved feeding the orangutan and the bearcat. She was all smiles thinking she was able to hold the hand (or the foot?) of the baby orangutan.
Before heading to the Pililla Wind Farm, we had our lunch at one of the oldest restaurants in the area---the Bulawan Floating Restaurant. Dine al fresco at this two-decade-old resto surrounded by a fishpond and lined up with trees. We sure had a hearty lunch with a fab view. Yum!
The Pililla Wind Farm is just twenty minutes away from the resto. Since its completion in 2016, the wind farm helps generate electricity for nearby towns and municipalities of Rizal and Laguna. It is composed of 27 wind turbines and each windmill can generate 2 megawatts of power, producing 54 megawatts of energy in all. It is also the first Luzon-based wind farm outside Ilocos Norte. We parked at Santi’s Farmhouse for the rate of P300. They have a view deck overlooking most of the windmills in the area and a fantastic lake view. Though the coffee shop is closed during weekdays, we took our time enjoying the cool breeze and relaxing sight.
Before heading home, we had coffee and light snacks at Tadhana Café. A visit to this gem was indeed the perfect finale to our fun fam Pililla trip.

Certified as a PADI rescue diver. Got my first compact camera in 2011. I was simply content then to just capture a glimpse of what I see during my dives. It was only last February 2014 that I fully maximized the use of manual macro settings.
My camera skills and knowledge are still a work in progress. Enjoy browsin’!
