Tanay, Rizal: Balai Tanay

Ling and I are always looking forward to our daughter’s student-led conference after every quarter during the school year. It’s that time of the year where we meet with our child’s school adviser and see our kiddo’s quarterly portfolio, grades and academic achievement. And because I always know that we wouldn’t be disappointed, I also planned an out of town trip as a reward for our 10 year old’s hard work. And to make it more memorable, we also invited her grandparents and her closest cousin, Dabs. We booked our stay via AirBnb with Balai Tanay’s Rustic Tiny Home at the rate of P8,787.06, good for 6-7 pax. The kitchen, by the way, is fully equipped so you can prep your own meals.

Balai Tanay is almost a two-hour drive from Quezon City. On the way, we appreciated the amazing view of the Sierra Madre mountain range. And though it was drizzling when we arrived, the cool rainforest vibe welcomed us. The kiddos liked the homey bedrooms and couldn’t wait to explore the compound. We first went to the nearby stream. We didn’t hesitate walking through the knee-deep river to enjoy the afternoon sun and cool mountain breeze. We took our time spotting insects, fishes, snails and unique rocks. Our fam also spotted a cow along the way and imagine the kids shrieking with delight.

We then spent the afternoon lounging in the pool. Luckily, we had it all to ourselves so our daughter and her cousin took turns jumping into the pool one after the other. Dabs also had a one-on-one swimming refresher sesh with her ate. After dinner, we let the kids do a modern bonfire so as to grill their hotdog and marshmallow on sticks. Overall, it was indeed an eat-play-swim kind of adventure. Enjoy viewing!
