Batangas: Long Overdue Dives

Travel and work filled my May to August 2017. Not to mention the start of the habagat season in June. I may have liked as much underwater photos posted online...but with a heavy realization that it has already been four long months without diving. =(

And so, Ling and I spent the start of the ber months at San Luis, Batangas. It was a long overdue reunion dive with our PADI/CMAS instructor, Allan Lao. Did two boat dives in Bauan, Batangas. Though the southwest monsoon was making itself felt, the underwater visibility was surprisingly nice. Ling and I were also finally able to see the majestic school of jacks in the Dive and Trek house reef. I’ve last seen this school of jacks way back 2014 in the Twin Rocks dive site in Anilao. They have not been spotted in the area ever since.

The highlight of the weekend’s dive was our night dive in Seasport Park and Dive Resort’s house reef. First time to see an orange-y crab eating planktons. We were also able to see a crocodile fish, cuttlefish, flabellina and a sleeping puffer.

Concluded our trip with a dive in the Pinnacle dive site. The current was quite strong so it wasn’t surprising to see a group of 5 gigantic jacks. Though I wasn’t able to capture a decent photo, the view was simply splendid.
