Anilao, Batangas: 2018 Mid-year Dives

It was a decision made after a supposed mountain climbing schedule was cancelled 2 days prior. Ling and I couldn’t wait to be back diving in May 2018 after almost two long months. After our preferred dive master, Jess Tabangay, confirmed...we were all set for a long weekend dive!

For a change, we booked our stay at Anilao Boarding House. An air-conditioned room with hot shower for 2 pax is pegged at P2,000. They allow diver guests to arrange dives by ourselves and bring our preferred DM, too. And it was just our luck that Jess was also able to book a boat worth P5,000 for 3 dives near Secret Bay.

One of a kind critters welcomed us back to diving on our first day. We spent 3 dives in Heidi’s Point where we saw a flamboyant cuttlefish, a filefish, sheep nudis, a pregnant yellow goby with eggs and two bottles with yellow gobies inside. My eyes were on fire when I saw those gobies living inside a bottle for the first time.<3

The following day, we did 2 shore dives. Because it has been awhile since our last dive in Basura, we didn’t expect seeing two pregnant hairy shrimps, two Cyerce species, pygmy squids, nudibranchs and so much more. It was just the perfect finale for our long weekend dives. Anilao, you really, really don’t disappoint!
