Cagayan De Oro

I have always considered Cagayan De Oro as my second home. Most of my relatives from my mother's side live there. Blood connection aside, it is rightfully called the 'City of Golden Friendship' because I've experienced firsthand the warmth and hospitality of CDO locals. This is probably the reason why I always look forward to spending my childhood summer vacation there.

One thing I took to my advantage of having Visayan roots was the ability to understand and speak its dialect. No language barrier for me. Daghang salamat sa akong mga kaubanan! ;P

In the countless times I've been to CDO though, it was only in 2009 that I've tried its most famous water adventure: white water rafting. I was with my Sumasabog na Kalan or SNK friends then. We did the beginner's course with 1st Rafting Adventure. And the experience was extraordinary! Going through 14 major rapids was no doubt a fun, blood-pumping challenge. We even took the dare of jumping off a protruding rock in the middle of the course. Bongganoch!

Our adventure streak didn't end in rafting because we also tried the zip line and sky bridge in Macahambus Adventure Park. It has certainly been one of my most extreme trips, ever!

I was back in CDO with Ling and my fam last June 2015. It was Ling's first time there so he had a blast meeting relatives. We also went on an adventure to Dahilayan in Bukidnon, which was both our first time. We tried Asia's longest dual zip line pegged at 840 meters long. Also tried the luge with our daughter, Xandy.

For our trip's finale, we both did mid-level white water rafting. Went along with Kagay Rafting this time around. Compared to the beginner's course or lower level, we rafted through 24 major rapids for the mid-level. Longer but manageable. We'll definitely be back for the expert's level next time.
